Hefestus rotary cup filling and sealing machine

Hermes and Poseidon fill and seal pre-formed cups you buy in, indexing them past a dosing head and sealing film or a pre-cut lid across the top. Cup geometry rules a machine in or out before output does, so the published envelope below matters more than the headline rate.

Ideal for: Yogurt, pudding, ice cream, coffee creamer

Where pre-formed cup filling belongs

Poseidon covers up to 3,600 cups an hour and Hermes up to 7,200. Above roughly that ceiling you have outgrown pre-formed cup filling and should be looking at a form-fill-seal cup machine instead, which makes the cup from a web rather than taking one you bought. We would rather tell you that now than sell you a machine you outgrow in a year. Below it, pre-formed keeps the machine simpler and leaves you free to change cup supplier.

Counting what hand-filling really costs

Cup filling is where giveaway hides. Before comparing machines, weigh thirty cups off your current line and look at the spread rather than the average: the overfill you run to stay legal is a cost on every cup, all year, and it rarely reaches anyone’s business case. Add the labour on filling and lidding across all shifts, and the cups lost to bad seals. An automated filler bids against that combined figure, not against the wage bill alone.

The ceiling on this machine

The published ceiling is 120 cups per minute on Hermes, which is 7,200 an hour; Poseidon tops out at 60, or 3,600. Above that you have outgrown pre-formed cup filling, and the honest answer is a form-fill-seal cup machine that makes the cup from a web instead. Cup geometry is the other hard limit: 146 mm maximum for a single cup, 120 mm each in a double or quadruple arrangement. A cup outside that is not a conversation about speed. We also publish no modified-atmosphere option for this machine, so if you need gas in a cup, ask rather than assume.

Cup and flavour changes

Two different operations get called the same word here. A flavour change is a clean-down, and its cost is cleaning time and product loss. A cup change is a tooling change. Ask for both separately, timed by your own operators, and ask what the clean-down requires when the previous product carried inclusions — that is the one that overruns.

Settle these before anyone quotes

Cup diameter, film roll diameter and the electrical supply for both Europe and the USA are published above because any one of them can rule this machine out before output becomes the question. It is a short list, and we would rather you check it in five minutes than discover it in week six.

See it run your product

Send your pack dimensions, target output and shift pattern. You will get a written spec back — including the honest answer if this is the wrong machine for the job.
